Something pretty meaningful happened today. I decided to share if it encourages someone. In 2024, I had two very significant personal losses that desite my jokes and smiles, have left me empty, angry, sad, confused and devastated. I went back to therapy, but sometimes these emotions just cycle. Yesterday, I mentally charged myself $5 for every time I thought about one of the losses. I made it up to $55 and $15 this morning. Last week. I completed a Bible plan on transitions. In it, I learned two Greek terms Chronos (chronological time) and Kairos which is divinely appointed time.
I visited a local church online. The message was about seasons of change. The Bishop explained, just like in last week's Bible study...Chronos and Kairos. Chronos is related to seasons. There is a time for everything. He also told the parable about pruning the tree...some limbs are pruned because they do not grow, do not change, and bear no fruit. The healthy limbs are also pruned so their growth takes off; they will bear more fruit, mature and branch out. I thought about my rose bushes. Full of sadness and anger after Grammy died, I cut them to grow stronger, but I also cut them lower than needed....trying to cut away my sorrow and pain.
The rose bushes are huge, full, and productive. Neighbors compliment them and ask, "What did you do?" They are the most beautiful ones I have seen. They survive drought, and this awful, endless, torcherous heat. You have to lose some things...that hurt, that leave you bare, before you enter another season. Then, the Bishop talked about spiritual maturity that should, or does take place in particular seasons. Winter, a time of reflection and rest. Spring represents renewal and planting seeds. Summer represents working and building. Fall is a time of harvest, renewal and preparation. Then comes Kairos...divine timing...when we are mature and ready for whatever we are to receive and be elevated to. He said: 1. Find out the season that you are in. 2. Find out the purpose of the season. 3. Manage your time appropriately; time is an eliminator, exposer, and educator. Everything became clear. I told Him I'd let it go today.
